Anti-goodbye girl

Good Morning, God 3 Comments »

Dear God,
Office appointments start this morning at 8am.  Early morning reflection takes a hit when the Senator has summertime office hours.  (Can’t wait to see how I will manage GMG when the Session is running my life!  Maybe Good Evening, God?).
This evening, I pick up April from Tampa Airport and she returns to being the full-time caretaker of the amazing Lincoln and Reagan and the bun buns as well.  Yes, I have whined a lot about my temporary responsibilities as zookeeper but, I have to admit, I will miss them. …

Dear God,

I am feeling frustration this morning.  So, what do I mean when I say I am feeling frustration?  I am so frustrated, I am not sure.  Let’s see what Webster’s has to say about my “frustration.”  Frustration:  a deep chronic sense or state of insecurity and dissatisfaction arising from unresolved problems or unfulfilled needs.  Hmmmmmm, that’s pretty intense.  I think we can dismiss the “state of insecurity.”  Not sure about “a deep chronic sense.”  My definition of frustration:  “I am deeply dissatisfied over an unresolved problem and some unfulfilled …

Dear God,
It is precisely 4ish in the afternoon as I write, “Good Morning, God.”  But like that country song about it being five o’clock somewhere, it is morning somewhere too.  So, Good Morning, God is always appropriate even on the rare occasion that I don’t put my fingers to the prayer until the afternoon.
I would pray something brilliant right now but, I’m not feeling inspired to great prayer or brilliance of any kind.  It has been an ordinary day full of ordinary things.  Up at 4:30am for morning mediation, 6:30 …

Dear God,
I am thinking this morning of how to focus my mind and my energy.  Actually, You know I do this every day but, this morning I am focusing on Sunday and the things I associate with Sunday like holiness, rest, peace, praise, worship, church, Joel Osteen and the Sunday Morning show on CBS.
In my mind, I sometimes imagine myself with my ideal mate/partner (who is still on his way to me) and then Sunday morning might include early morning kanoodling, breakfast in bed, a shared beach walk, and all …

Dear God,
I am praying with (my fingers) and an audience this morning.  Lincoln & Reagan, of course, (the shih tuz’s), and “Aunt Vikki,” my daughter’s godmother are sitting close by. (She is visiting for a girls’ weekend - friends for 30+ years).
I am having a hard time getting focused, so I’ve decided to think of it like praying in church. At church I pray with lots of other people beside me and, frankly, some of my best prayers have arisen spontaneously that way.  It can be quite uncomfortable when I …

Although I like to say Good Morning, God when I pray to You with my fingers, actually, this morning doesn’t feel so good – yet.  I am praying I will feel and think better after our chat. You see – and I know You do – the last couple of days have been a struggle.  This morning I am wondering what to write – the muse seems to be sleeping late.  Then again, when I think of this as writing instead of prayer, I am off track already.  On those days …
