Back in the ring
Good Morning, God August 18th, 2009
Good Evening, God,
I have been down but I am not out. Yesterday was a rough day. I again felt overwhelmed and fatigued. Lack of energy caused me to be in a bad mood when I arrived to do my workout with my Personal Trainer, Jen. However, Jen was NOT sympathetic – she came down hard on me — a real smackdown! And although it was difficult to hear, it seems to be the dose of reality that I needed. All she did was to remind me of all the things I already know and what I must do to lose weight and to become physically fit again. No more excuses! Maybe I just needed to hear the words spoken out loud by someone else in order to really hear them. Thank You God for friends who care enough to speak the truth.
Today, I have done two cardio workouts – one 60 minutes, one 50 minutes. I have eaten protein at breakfast and lunch and will fish for dinner. Jen reminded me that eating doesn’t have to be as hard as I am making it. Following some basic rules and making some simple changes will make a big difference and get the weight off. It doesn’t even matter any more how long it takes as long as I am headed in the right direction – down on the scale.
Vacation starts on Thursday but even that cannot be an excuse to eat in an irresponsible way – after all I am trying to create lifetime habits and maintain my weight loss (after it’s done) for the rest of my life. That’s the trouble with being a grown up – you have to be grown up!! I will do it, I can do it, and I am doing it now! Encouraging thoughts:

You’ve got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it. It’s called perseverance.

You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She’s 97 today and we don’t know where the hell she is.
