savannahDear God,

Thank you for today’s safe journey to Savannah, Georgia. It was a long day for me since I got up (thanks for the help!) at 4:30am to get in a cardio workout before my 8:15am scheduled lab work. I did all the packing last night so after the lab work, I was on the road to Winter Haven by 9am (after stopping for coffee, of course!)

Vikki and I hit the road from Winter Haven about 11am and after two or three breaks along the way arrived in Savannah about 5pm. As You know, Barbara called and she may join us tomorrow so it could turn into an even bigger girls’ weekend! Yahoo!

God, I think I need some extra help with my communication skills……at least at this point I am assuming I do. V and I seem to be at odds quite often and this evening, we couldn’t even decide on a restaurant without it turning into drama. I think she thinks it’s all me and, I tend to think it’s all her. I am actually certain it is both of us. We are both strong, independent people but very different in many ways. I am spontaneous (sometimes too much so?) and believe a disagreement is something to talk about and figure things out. V tends to simply shut down and refuse to communicate – which frustrates me to no end. She hates any kind of argument or confrontation whereas I seldom see anything that can’t be discussed, don’t take disagreements personally, and always am willing to try to see the other side of things, especially when someone can point out my blind spots and help me see when and where I am being selfish and headstrong. But, if V is not sharing the way she sees things, I can’t consider where I could be (am!?) at fault, for sure. So, God, HELP!

We ended up at a restaurant called The Boar’s Head. Although it was not reviewed by Frommer’s, it was still very good. I had a crab cake, spinach salad and grilled veggies (peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, and squash – particularly yummy!)

No Savannah night life for us – we were crashing and burning by 10:30pm. 12,441ish steps! Thank you, God. And thank you for my good friend, Vikki, who sticks with me through thick and thin, crazy and crazier (30+ years)!
